The Bahrain Credit Reference Bureau’s role is to aggregate comprehensive credit information for the Kingdom of Bahrain The company, which operates under The Benefit Company BSC (Closed) is licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain acts as the central data warehouse between all banks, financial institutions and credit providers. The Bureau receives, stores, analyses and classifies credit information to produce credit reports for both individuals and corporates.

The credit information contains data related to your financial obligations. Apart from storing your credit information safely, the Bureau also provides you your credit reports upon request. All customers are entitled to acquire a free credit report once a year and request corrections on any information they find inaccurate.

Having a good credit score is very important. Businesses check your credit history when they evaluate your applications for credit, insurance, employment, and even leases.

Your credit report captures credit information that lenders use to determine your creditworthiness. This includes the type of credit accounts, current balances, payment history, and any delinquency you may have. You will also get a summary of your account totals, total debt, and personal information.

Who Has Access To This Data?

Rest easy knowing all your info is secured. Credit information or credit reports may not be used by members of the Credit Bureau authorized by the Central Bank of Bahrain, unless for the purpose of evaluating your credit status.

Who are the Members?

The members of the Bahrain Credit Reference Bureau are those who are authorized by the law and government entities, ministries and Central Bank of Bahrain to provide the Bureau with credit information of their clients.


Rights & Relationships


The Credit Bureau provides the following list of rights regarding your credit report:


  • You’re entitled to have your credit report from the Bureau for free once every 12 months.




  • You’re entitled to request additional credit report directly or online from the Bureau for BD4.400, or BD5.500 VAT inclusive in case you request it through any member.




  • You’re entitled to raise a dispute against your credit information within within 14 days from the date upon receipt.




  • You’re entitled to subscribe for SMS notifications of any access.




  • The member who submits the enquiry application must verify your identity.




  • The Bureau does not take any decision whether to approve or reject your application which is submitted to the members.



YOUR CREDIT REPORT

Your credit report contains your personal details as well as information about your accounts.

The Bureau shall issue the credit report which includes a summary of your credit information within two working days from the date of receiving the request unless otherwise stated. Additionally, the Bureau also should not keep a copy of the report and shall send the credit report to you by hand or via registered mail.

How to get your Credit Report?



Complaints/Disputes Procedure


  1. If you see inaccuracies on your credit report, you may submit complaints/disputes directly to the Bureau.
  2. You are entitled to raise a dispute against your credit information through phone, email, or visit within 14 days from the date upon receipt.
  3. Disputes are resolved within (5) five working days within the receipt of the credit report.
  4. You will be informed on the amendments made. A new copy of the amended credit report will be sent free of charge.

Correction of Credit Information

It’s important to check that the data is correct and up to date because it can have a powerful impact on your finances.


  • You are entitled to ask the member to update additional information related to your credit status, provided that you must prove the authenticity of the information.




  • The information will be corrected in accordance with applicable rules and regulations




  • The Bureau will notify the Central Bank of any dispute related to any misuse of your credit information by any member for necessary action.
